The Government of India also accepted with some reservations the scheme of basic education and wanted all primary education to be gradually remodelled on this pattern . भारत सरकार ने भी बुनियादी शिक्षा की योजना को कुछ बचाव के साथ स्वीकार किया और चाहा कि पूरी प्राथमिकताZ शिक्षा को क्रमश : यह रूप दिया जाये .

But the acceptance of the scheme of Basic Education by the Government of India and some state governments was only halfhearted and was never tried in the spirit in which it was conceived . किंतु भारत सरकार और कुछ राज़्य सरकारो द्वारा बुनियादी शिक्षा योजना की स्वीकृति आधे मन से थी और कभी उस भावना से कार्य नहीं किया गया , जैसा कि कल्पना की गयी थी .

The second objective implies that the gulf between general and vocational , as well as between secular and religious education should be bridged , at least at the primary stage , and a common pattern of integrated fundamental education be provided for all children . दूसरे उद्देश्य में यह निहित है कि सामान्य और व्यावसायिक शिक्षा तथा धर्म निरपेक्ष और धार्मिक शिक्षा के बीच की खाई कम से कम प्राथमिक स्तर पर भरनी चाहिए तथा एक समान समन्वित बुनियादी शिक्षा की पद्धति सभी बच्चों के लिए लागू की जानी चाहिए .

The art of teaching so as to enable the child to love and understand his environment and to learn with his limbs and his senses before the brain is unduly taxed was first developed at Santiniketan long before Mahatma Gandhi adapted its basic principle to his system of what later came to be known in India as Basic Education . ताकि बालक अपने वातावरण को समझ सके और उसे प्यार कर सके ; इसके पहले कि उसके दिमाग पर पहरा बिठा दिया जाए.वह अपने समस्त अंग-प्रत्यंग के कार्य और संवेदनों को समझ सके और इस तरह महात्मा गांधी का बुनियादी सिद्धांत- जिसे बाद में भारत में बुनियादी शिक्षा के नाम से जाना गया- के बहुत पूर्व शांतिनिकेतन में इस विकसित किया गया था .

He asked them to draw up a scheme of basic education according to the principle that all knowledge , skills , and activities which were regarded to be necessary for the education of the child should centre round some useful craft and the whole process should be permeated with the spirit of a social and moral philosophy based on truth and non-violence . उन्होनें उस सिद्धांत के अनुसार बुनियादी शिक्षा की योजना तैयार करने को कहा कि जिसमें सभी ज्ञान , कार्य कुशलता और क्रियांए जो बच्चे की , शिक्षा के लिए आवश्यक मानी गयीं थीं , किसी उपयोगी हस्तशिल्प पर केंद्रित हो तथा संपूर्ण प्रक्रिया सत्य और अहिंसा पर आधारित सामाजिक और नैतिक दर्शन की मूल भावना के साथ फैले .
